Thank you for your passion for our motorcycles. I appreciate the thoughts you have, but unfortunately it would be not possible to bring back the past in the same way. The XB's are not done the way they are just because we wanted to get better chassis performance, but are also done the way they are so we can have the most performance under all the new government rules.

Tougher emissions and noise rules are very difficult for two cylinder high performance motorcycles, and even more difficult for air-cooled. To meet today's noise standards with a big air-cooled twin requires a very large airbox to have any power. To put such an airbox out the side would look ridiculous. To put on top leaves no room for fuel, unless that goes behind the engine, which makes the bike longer, or once again makes the airbox too small for power.

We could build a bike that looked like what we built in the past but it would have to be very de-tuned and the performance would be unacceptable in a sportbike. And, when all is said and done, I will never build a bike around a Harley-Davidson engine again, so it won't happen anyhow. And, I'm not really a nostalgic kind of guy; I like inventing new things. I am sorry, but I cannot give what you want.
